On Christmas Eve December 24, 2018, His Eminence Khöndung Asanga Vajra Rinpoche arrived in Hong Kong to a warm welcome by Venerable Ponlop Tashi Rinpoche and dharma students. Rinpoche was accompanied by his ritual teacher Gen Ngawang Rigdol la while Rinpoche’s other attendants traveled ahead to Vietnam to make preparations for the grand events organized by Sakya Vietnam.

On December 26th, Rinpoche bestowed the Vajrapani Bhutadamara jenang initiation at the Sakya Tsechen Phuntsog Choling Center in Hong Kong which was established by His Holiness Dagchen Dorjechang Rinpoche. The event was mainly organized by Mr. Roland Yeung and other members of the centre.

On the morning of December 27th, upon their invitation, His Eminence Khöndung Asanga Vajra Rinpoche visited the Gig Lok Monastery for lunch and while there, Rinpoche kindly took the time to pray for the monastery’s beloved dog who had just died and was ready for cremation. In the evening, Rinpoche gave a dharma talk on “Understanding the Bodhisattvas and their Vast Activities” at the Maha Sandhi Yoga Centre in Hong Kong.

After a day of rest, on December 29th, Rinpoche engaged in a full day of dharma activities held at the Heritage Lodge Conference hall in Hong Kong. Rinpoche performed the Guru Yoga puja in the morning followed by a dharma talk on “The conflicting reality between what we wish for and what we truly achieve”. Later in the evening, Rinpoche bestowed the Khon lineage Vajrakilaya torma initiation. The next day on December 30th, Rinpoche bestowed the Amitayus Hayagriva combination long life initiation and later in the afternoon, Rinpoche gave a dharma talk on “The acts of a Bodhisattva, another name for community service”. This two-day event at the Heritage Lodge was organized by Venerable Ponlop Tashi Rinpoche and his assistant Ms. Soyang Chen.

Overall, Rinpoche’s Hong Kong visit was a great success filled with dharma activities and we thank all the organizers of the various events. We also thank all the dedicated dharma students and volunteers who helped to make these events a success. Finally, we thank Lama Ngawang Phuntsok la and Lama Tenpa Tsering la of Gig Lok Monastery for their kind and capable assistance during the entirety of Rinpoche’s stay in Hong Kong.

On December 31st, H.E. Khöndung Asanga Vajra Rinpoche and entourage left Hong Kong for Vietnam.
