On August 22nd 2018 His Eminence Khondhung Asanga Vajra Rinpoche and entourage arrived at the Ghoom Guru Sakya Monastery in Darjeeling, India. Asanga Rinpoche's entourage comprised of his grandmother Her Eminence Dagmo Kushog, his grand aunts Jetsunma Chime Gyatso and her husband, Jetsunma Kunyang Norbu, his sister Jetsunma Aloki Wangmo and his mother Dagmo Chimey.

Upon their arrival, they received a very warm reception from the Khenpos and sangha of Ghoom Guru Sakya Monastery as well as from representatives of other nearby monasteries. On the following day, the annual Grand Vajrakilaya puja commenced with the ceremonial preparations of the puja including the construction of the Vajrakilaya mandala. On August 24th, the actual grandVajrakilaya puja began with Asanga Rinpoche presiding over the congregation of sangha.

On August 26th, on the auspicious occasion of Tsarchen Losal Gyatso's anniversary, Asanga Rinpoche paid a visit to Sakya Choepheling College in Rimbick, Darjeeling at the request of the Principal, Khenpo Ngawang Gyatso and sangha. Rinpoche received a warm welcome from the college and the local people. On his departure, an auspicious and glorious rainbow appeared on the horizon to the delight of all those in attendance.
